As an Afro-Caribbean American woman now living in the Pacific Northwest, I’ve realized you can learn a lot about how you see yourself in the world and how the world sees you! And finding a space that helps you connect and communicate is vital to overall wellbeing. I have a strong affinity towards harm reduction/trauma, social justice work, and racial identity. I am a Geriatric Mental Health specialist through the state of Washington and offer support and tools around caregivers, aging, life transitions, grief, and loss.
Therapeutically speaking, I focus on working psychodynamically with my clients, analyzing the whole person, not just a cluster of symptoms. together we will explore your life experience early on, examine patterns of relating and will refine your goals to cultivate a satisfying and meaningful life. I utilize an eclectic therapy approaches of Narrative therapy, somatic therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I look forward to working together with you, while you explore, learn, and evolve into the person you want to be.
Personally, Jennifer is very interested in diversifying the outdoors and showing the connection between our physical, emotional and mental wellbeing through our connections to nature.
“Painful feelings are, by their very nature, temporary. They will weaken over time as long as we don’t prolong or amplify them through resistance or avoidance. The only way to eventually free ourselves from debilitating pain, therefore, is to be with it as it is. The only way out is through.”
